Acts 2:41-47 and Ephesians 5:22-33
The Church is a Covenant Relationship between Baptized Believers.
A. Promise to walk together in Christian love, John 13:34-35.
B. Promise to be faithful in church attendance, Hebrews 10:25.
C. Promise to be faithful in tithing, 1 Corinthians 16:2 and 2 Corinthians 8:6-7.
D. Promise to transfer one’s membership when one moves and become active in a church where one lives, Acts 11:19-21 & 18:24-28.
The Church develops the Gifts of the Holy Spirit to accomplish God’s mission, Matthew 28:19-20 & Ephesians 4:11-13.
The Church has duties to fellow members.
A. To watch over one another in love, 1 Peter 1:22.
B. To pray for one another, James 5:16.
C. To aid in sickness and distress, Galatians 6:2 and James 2:14-17.
Is Church membership necessary?
A. For salvation, church membership is not necessary.
B. However, to obey and follow Jesus, we must be a member of a local church because He loved and died for the church.
