A. Jesus did not criticize the rich who gave generously.
B. Jesus highly commended the widow who gave sacrificially.

Collision Course with Catastrophe, vv. 10-24
A. Disciples of Jesus are always exposed to trouble, v. 12.
B. A time of testimony, vv. 13-15: Trust the Holy Spirit for leadership when the opportunity arises.
C. Enduring faithfulness leads to ultimate victory, v. 19.
- ultimate security is with God
- the faithful will be rewarded even if martyrdom comes
D. Jerusalem is to be destroyed, vv. 20-24.
- Israel chosen to be the missionary force in the world.
- But they retreated into narrow, nationalistic exclusiveness.
Victory belongs to the Lord, vv. 25-28–>The Lord Is Sovereign & Supreme
Be Alert and Ready, vv. 29-36
A. Disciples always live ready for the return of Jesus Christ.
B. Disciples are not overly concerned with day-to-day events.
C. Disciples concentrate on being:
- faithful
- obedient
Jesus Was and Is in the Presence of God and Among the People, vv. 37-38
Conclusion
If we would face trials and troubles and fears of the present, we need to spend time in the presence of our Father. Each day we should find a place of retreat and solitude in order that we might let God speak to our condition.
