Jeremiah 5 is a conversation between Jeremiah and God. This reminds us Abraham’s bartering conversation with God over the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18:22ff).

Key Word: forsaken

Jeremiah 5 | Israel’s Terrible Sins

A. Dishonesty, vv. 1-5

1. Among the poor & ignorant, vv. 1-4
2. Among the leaders, v. 5

    Broken yoke, burst bonds: abandoning all restraint to obey the Law.

B. Idolatry and Immorality, vv. 7-10

No matter what God does for the people, they worship idols and visit brothels.

C. Treachery, vv. 11-13, 20-31

They lie about the Lord.

Israel’s Terrible Punishment

A. Attacked & killed by wild animals, v. 6

B. Attacked & defeated by pagan armies, vv. 14-19
