Introduction
Chapter 12 is a hymn of praise to the Messiah after the Day of the Lord’s judgment.
Reasons to Praise the Messiah, vv. 1-3
A. God’s Anger Is Turned Away, v. 1
B. God’s Consolation Is Mine, v. 1
C. God Is My Salvation, v. 2
1. The Lord is my security: “I will trust, and not be afraid.”
2. The Lord is my strength: He is my resource (“wells of salvation”)and refuge (“my salvation”).
3. The Lord is my song: He is my joy.
Reasons to Testify for the Messiah, vv. 4-6
A. “Praise the Lord,” v. 4–How?
1. “Call on His name”
2. “Declare His” works
3. “Make mention that His name is exalted”
B. “Sing unto the Lord,” v. 5–Why? He has “done excellent things!”
C. “Shout” unto the Lord, v. 6–Why?
1. God is “the Holy One of Israel”
2. God is “in the midst of thee”
