Paul closes his letter to the Galatian church with some final instructions.
Paul and the Saints, vv. 1-10
A. The Law of Sharing and Caring, vv. 1-5
1. The Name of This Law, vv. 1-2: The Law of Christ
The word “burden” in verses 2 and 5 are different words in the Greek text. In verse 2, the word burden means “human frailties.” In verse 5, the word means “responsibility.” We should help one another as needed, but not depend on others to do what we can do for ourselves.
2. The Nature of This Law, vv. 3-5: Spiritual believers are to gently restore fallen believers back to fellowship.
B. The Law of Receiving and Giving, v. 6: Those who are taught the Word of God should help their teachers by paying them.
C. The Law of Sowing and Reaping, vv. 7-10
1. Those who sow only sinful desires will reap everlasting death, vv. 7-8a.
2. Those who sow what is good will reap everlasting life, vv. 8b-10.
Paul and the Savior, vv. 11-18
A. Paul testifies concerning his submission to Christ, vv. 11-16.
1. The legalizers boast in the ceremony of circumcision, vv. 11-13.
2. The apostle boasts in the cross of Christ, vv. 14-16.
B. Paul testifies concerning his sufferings for Christ, vv. 17-18. Paul bears on his body the marks of his suffering for Jesus.
