The virgin birth of Jesus reveals His deity.
Virgin Birth Fulfills God’s Prophecy
A. “Her seed; He shall bruise [the head of the serpent],” Genesis 3:15.
B. “Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son,” Isaiah 7.
- Syria and Israel threatened the kingdom of Ahaz.
- God told Ahaz that Syria and Israel would not succeed.
- God gave Ahaz a sign: the virgin will conceive and him name will be Immanuel, v. 14.
- God warned Ahaz: “if ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established,” v. 9.
- By his unbelief, Ahaz sacrificed Immanuel by making an alliance with the king of Assyria.
Virgin Birth Fulfills God’s Perfection
A. Since the fall of Adam, man is born with imputed sin, Romans 5:14-19.
B. Verses 16 (feminine relative pronoun) and 18, Christ was born of Mary and the Holy Spirit.
C. The Bible states that Christ had no sin.
- (2 Corinthians 5:21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
- (Hebrews 4:15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
- (Hebrews 7:26) For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
- (1 Peter 2:22) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
- (1 John 3:5) And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
Virgin Birth Fulfills God’s Plan
A. The name of Jesus, who shall save His people from their sins.
- OT Joshua led Israel in conquering the Promised Land.
- NT Jesus leads Christians in fulfilling the Promised Life.
