The Holy Spirit Possesses Appellations of Deity

A. The names of the Holy Spirit are names of Deity.

1. He is called “the Spirit of God,” 1 Corinthians 6:11.
2. He is called “the Spirit of Jesus,” Acts 16:7.

B. The works of the Holy Spirit are works of Deity.

1. He is called “a spirit of adoption,” Romans 8:15.
2. Jesus called Him “another [of the same kind] helper,” John 14:16.

C. The Bible reveals the Holy Spirit as equal in name, power, and nature with the Father and Son.

The Holy Spirit Possesses Attributes of Deity

A. The Holy Spirit is omniscient, 1 Corinthians 2:11-12.

B. The Holy Spirit is omnipresent.

1. “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” Psalm 139:7.
2. Jesus promised that the Spirit would be in all believers, John 14:17.

C. The Holy Spirit is omnipotent, Job 33:4.

D. The Holy Spirit is truth, 1 John 5:6b.

E. The Holy Spirit grants resurrection, Romans 8:2.

F. The Holy Spirit possesses creative wisdom, Isaiah 40:13.

The Holy Spirit Performs Actions of Deity

A. The Holy Spirit was active in creation, Genesis 1:2.

B. The Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures, 2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21.

C. The Holy Spirit conceived Christ, Luke 1:35.

D. The Holy Spirit convicts the sinner, John 16:8.

E. The Holy Spirit regenerates, John 3:6.

F. The Holy Spirit comforts, John 14:16.

G. The Holy Spirit intercedes, Romans 8:26.

H. The Holy Spirit sanctifies, 2 Thessalonians 2:13.
