Why Do Christians Suffer?

Introduction

Paul is still in prison after two years in Caesarea. He was guilty of no crime except that of preaching the Gospel to Gentiles as well as to Jews.

Undeserved Sufferings

B. There are many causes for undeserved suffering:

  1. We suffer because of carelessness of others.
  2. We suffer because of selfishness of others.
  3. We suffer because of sufferings of others.
  4. We suffer because of activity of Satan.
  5. We suffer sometimes because of our own carelessness.
  6. Sometimes there is no earthly explanation for the suffering we endure.

C. Some comfort in Truth that no suffering comes to us unnoticed by our loving God.

Opportunity for Unique Witnessing

A. Paul witnessed to Felix and Drusilla, chapter 24.

B. Paul witnessed to Festus, King Agrippa and Bernice.

C. Paul witnessed to soldiers and diplomats on his way to Rome.

D. Paul fulfilled the Lord’s commission, Acts 9:15-16.
