Two Visions

The Vision for Cornelius, vv. 1-8

A. The Man

1. A Gentile centurion
2. A Devout man–>his benevolence and his praying

B. The Message–an angelic appearance

1. Your prayers and good works have been noticed–>Hebrews 11:6.
2. Send for Peter for further instructions.

C. The Mission

1. Cornelius immediately obeys.
2. Cornelius sends quality men:
   • Serving: “servants, soldiers, waited on him”
   • Spiritual: devout
   • Steadfast: continually

The Vision for Peter, vv. 9-23

A. The Man–>Apostle

B. The Message

1. “Rise, kill and eat”
2. Message given three times
3. Peter’s doubts

C. The Mission

1. The Coming of Cornelius’s servants
2. The Communication / verification from God: “three men seek thee.”
3. The Command–>Go!

The Victory for Gentiles–>God Saves Gentiles as well as Jews!

A. The Men

1. Cornelius, the crowd gatherer
2. Peter, the preacher

B. The Message

1. Peace by Jesus Christ
2. Faith in His name
3. Remission of sins

C. The Mission–>Baptize those whom God saves, vv. 47-48
